WATERLOO, Ontario (February 16, 2006) - GBG and
LinksPoint have developed an integrated mobile
computing–Global Positioning System (GPS) tracking
solution for the DSD marketplace to improve fleet
efficiency, lower fuel costs and increase driver safety.
By integrating GBG’s Pocket RouteXpress mobile
application used in the field for sales and delivery
activities with RouteTrak, LinksPoint’s GPS software,
organizations can maximize route productivity and
decrease operating costs by having highly detailed
stop-by-stop and mile-by-mile vehicle location and
history at their fingertips.
The joint solution has already been successfully
installed for a major North American operation. “Since
implementing Pocket RouteXpress with RouteTrak, our
managers have more visibility into route activities and
can take a more proactive approach to problem solving. We
have found that our drivers are more effective as a result
because they know the tracking device is on their truck,”
reported GBG’s customer.
"GBG is a recognized leader in applying innovative
technologies to meet the challenge of increasing
distribution productivity. LinksPoint is pleased to join
GBG to bring its location-powered solutions to the DSD
market," said Michael Forbes, LinksPoint's Vice President
of Products and Marketing. "LinksPoint's GPS receivers and
RouteTrak vehicle history tracking software integrate
seamlessly with Pocket RouteXpress to offer customers a
new level of visibility into field operations,” Forbes
explained.
“Final delivery accounts for the majority of
distribution costs,” said Ted Hastings, GBG CEO. “This
relationship with LinksPoint is part of a major strategy
on the part of GBG to empower all its customers with the
latest operational solutions to help them reduce
distribution costs and reach world-class levels of
performance in the DSD industry,” said Hastings. “The fact
that this solution is already in place and delivering
value to our first joint customer demonstrates that GBG is
executing successfully on its strategy."
Pocket RouteXpress combines driver and truck
information with GPS data pulled from RouteTrak so
distributors can better manage individual vehicles and the
fleet, and have greater visibility into stop time,
sequence and duration and travel in terms of mileage,
speed and hours. The integrated mobile solution allows
distributors to add more stops-per-day, reduce
costs-per-mile, reduce insurance costs and improve
customer service.
